From our roots to everyone’s future

Along the ways of sustainability.

Our commitment to environmental protection starts with our love for the area, its natural resources and the people inhabiting it.

These values drive us towards a constant search for innovation, aimed at guaranteeing state-of-the-art production processes, always in compliance with high quality and safety standards.

From clean energy to water saving, from raw material to recyclable packaging, all the way to the assessment of our environmental footprint: there are many ways leading to sustainability and we are taking them one by one.

Because they bring us towards a better future.

The way for a better climate

From carbon footprint to carbon offsetting: our Squacquerone is carbon neutral.

We can say that Squacquerone di Romagna PDO is good for the whole planet. We neutralised 1,388,305 kg of carbon dioxide, generated in 2024 by the entire life cycle of the cheese, thanks to two certified wind energy projects.

The way to recharge us

From sun, water and wind to the energy that we use every day.

Tradition and dairy art are endless sources of inspiration for our work. That is why we decide to feed them with clean energy. We do so in two ways:

  • With self-generation, thanks to our photovoltaic plant, with an annual production of 355,969.86 kWh, covers 52% of the company's needs and allows us to save 106 tonnes of CO₂ per year, equivalent to 15 million reusable 1L PET water bottles (Germany).

  • By purchasing 100% renewable energy with guarantee of origin, allowing us to reduce emissions and track every step of the energy flow.

Because the most powerful energy is the one that comes from respect: for nature and for the future of everyone

The way that makes a difference

From recyclable plastic to 100% recyclable package.

A truly innovative product is both good on the inside and... on the outside. The sustainability of our packaging is an integral part of our quality, since:

  • The outer packaging is made of polypropylene, a single-component plastic material, 100% recyclable and reusable several times to create new products*.

  • The inner bowls, made of PET, are made of at least 50% recycled plastic.

A doubly good choice, combining packaging recovery with a simple and clear waste sorting.

*For proper reuse, the package should be disposed in the plastic bin with no cheese residues.

The pure and transparent way

From respecting every drop to liters of water saved.

For us, water is like milk: a fundamental resource. We need averagely 3 liters of water for each liter of milk processed. Thanks to the experience and the innovation, we have managed to reduce water consumption by 12%..

In cleaning processes too, we are working hard to make water use increasingly efficient. That is why we have invested in advanced equipment optimizing washing activities and enabling full recovery of rinse water. The results are positive, but we aim to do more and more. Because every drop is precious for the life of our area.

The way of sharing

From repurposing food to the common good.

Our job is to produce high quality cheeses. Our duty is preventing them to be wasted. For this reason, whenever our products do not reach the final consumers due to minor external damages or delays in the logistic flows, we get them back and give them to the Fondazione Banco Alimentare, with which we have been collaborating for years. Every provision is registered and tracked through the Regusto portal.

These figures are not only data for us, but the tangible result of our philosophy: giving back to those living in the area a part of the fruits coming from the area itself.

*1 equivalent meal corresponds to a mix of 500 g of food according to the Reference Intake Levels of Nutrients and Energy for the Italian population.

The shortest way reaches a long way

From our house to the dairy, all the way to the suppliers: it is a short step.

The change that is guiding us towards a better future starts a few kilometers away from the dairy. Most of the milk that we process comes from 8 agricultural companies, all within 10 km from our plant. This contributes to reduce transportation-related CO2 emissions.

The same goes for our employees, those living nearby often choose to use a bicycle for daily commute and, whenever possible, opt for car sharing with their colleagues. In so doing, every step we take, brings us closer to a more responsible and conscious future.
